Case Family & American Cutlery History Video Documentary by Brad Lockwood Part II

Today is Part II of the video documentary by Brad Lockwood, the great-great-great grandson of Job Case- the patriarch and icon of the Case family cutlers.

This two-part series is much like a cliff notes narrated version of his fantastic book, “Tested XX – The Case Cutlery Dynasty.” Brad does an excellent job providing us footage of many of the historic homes and knife factory sites in Little Valley, NY- “The Village of Knives,” in addition to Case family history. Members of the Case family either worked for or started 32 different knife companies over the years.

If you missed Part I, here it is. Check it out. You will like it.

  1. Brad,

This was Awesome. I throughly enjoyed and look forward to getting together with you soon. Excellent job of capturing the real spirit of Little Valley and what it means to me.

My first trip there, I felt like I had entered the Valley of the Knife Gods. My wife still laughs as she speaks of how I looked at the OLD CASE house as if it was a shrine. Yes it is a shrine to me.

    Thank you for doing this.

  2. I’ve owned 410 Fair Oak now for 4 years, and it has become a real friend. It was in rough shape when we got it, but it had so much character and history despite requiring extensive renovation. I know the fantastic history that went on here, we hated to see this all fall into decay, and so it was well worth the effort. I have never seen such a solid, well-built home. Every wall is 13″ solid brick; if only they could speak. We think what we’ve done to preserve 410 Fair Oak will keep it standing long after the surrounding houses are gone….

    • how cool is that! you actually own this property, wow! I’d like to follow up via email after the 4th weekend- got a couple of questions for you. thanks!
